User Friendly Navigation
The User Interface is intuitive and efficient using a consistent design for all
input screens and search dialogs, so users can very quickly become familiar
with navigation methods. This allows for efficient and timely access, data
entry and retrieval even when the databases become large. This consistent
design dramatically increases work throughput, reduces response time and
improves follow up performance. Inteum C/S® is comprised of more than 130
discrete tables and does all the necessary linking, filtering and record
selection without users needing to have knowledge of relational database design
principles.
Unlike Web based system Inteum C/S® takes full advantage of multiple
windowing where a user can display multiple data views and is always only one
click away from any related information.
Inteum C/S® makes extensive use of Tabs and linked tables that provide
multiple access points and view into the data. For example one can search for
all Agreements relating to a certain Technology or just as easily search all
Technologies within certain Agreements. It is this flexibility that enables
Inteum C/S® to deliver rapid answers to complex questions.

Activities
Inteum C/S® provides each user their own graphical “To Do" list,
comprised of Activities that relate to tasks within the system. The To-Do list
can be sorted, searched, and prioritized as required by individual users.

Agreements
Inteum C/S® tracks all licensing transactions and agreements. Whether you
manage primarily Agreements In, or Out, Inteum C/S® records related key
dates and financial transactions such as fees and payments.
Agreements may be created without being related to a Technology, (e.g. Material
Transfer Agreements) or related to one or more Technologies. Agreements can
also be linked to an individual patent or group of patents derived from one or
more technologies. Every type of agreements you might consider tracking may be
managed in detail by Inteum C/S® including equity transactions.

Contact Management
Inteum C/S® creates a customized Activity "To Do" list that
employs the technology, contact, and related activities, organized into a
portfolio for each licensing manager. These To Do lists are generated using
shared and private information, such as company and individual contact
information (name and address). From this Contact Activity screen, licensing
managers can handle all associated contact management including: e-mailing and
letter generation.
Inteum C/S® tracks all communications with any number of individuals at
different institutions, relating to any number of technologies or Patents.

Delegation Management
Users can easily create any kind of Activity: Contact, Patent Agreement and
other types for themselves or delegate them to others within the work group by
changing the Owner field on each screen. The activities have action date
instructions and history log of remarks and letters attached to provide the
necessary information for the completion of any activity. An entire case with
its related activities, patents and license agreements, can also be transferred
from one manager to another with the same degree of referential integrity.
This delegation feature of Inteum’s software eases the process of
transferring cases\projects between people and ensures better continuity in the
event of staff change. Supervisors can more effectively manage staff and
resources so that strategies for action can be promptly developed from a common
knowledge base.

Document Control
Inteum C/S® produces form letters as MS Word templates. Users can create
and edit as many Form Letter templates inside Inteum C/S as required. For
example, one can readily produce standard technology opportunity marketing
letters, which include the non-confidential summary. Any standard communication
can be created as a Form Letter and used as a template thereafter. With the
letter generation and document control features of Inteum C/S you will be able
to increase the automation of such communications and reliability of your
correspondence output and follow-up systems.
Inteum C/S® not only automatically tracks copies of letters generated you
can also link any type of file or document to any record. For example the scan
of a Patent can be linked to the Patent record.

Compliance Manager
Inteum C/S® brings reliable licensee compliance management and
administration within the grasp of every technology management office.
Compliance Manager automates the management of agreements, payment and
reporting obligations:
On demand the Compliance Manager
Searches the
agreement payment and report databases,
Determines
what payment or reporting events are coming due in the immediate future or
overdue from all licensees,
Selects the
appropriate liaison person at the licensee establishment.
Selects the
appropriate form letter, for the payment of report condition and creates a
Contact Activities for each, directed to the correct licensee liaison person at
the designated licensee.
All that is
left for the user to do is print the tagged letters, crosschecking with a
manager whether the letter produced is indeed appropriate.
The Compliance Manger provides tremendous reliability in a user-friendly
procedure. Whether it is a report, minimum royalty, earned royalty,
administrative fee, reimbursable legal expense, or other kind of revenue item,
Inteum C/S® creates a letter to remind the licensee of their obligation and
thereby creates a formal record of your request.

Expenses and Revenues Management
Inteum C/S® provides the structure to record all case-related expenses,
with tremendous flexibility to ensure each fits the appropriate classification.
The same applies for revenues, which can be classified into different types.
Inteum C/S® also calculates and presents total expenses and revenues for
each Technology, Patent or Agreement. Naturally, this information can be output
to a report sorted and subtotaled by group, such as Technology Licensing
Associate, fiscal year or any other relevant parameter.
As Inteum C/S® maintains information about projected revenues, reports can
be generated which project cash flow and revenue performance expectations. An
increasingly interesting exercise is to look for the projected `break even
point' for a particular case or for the organization as a whole. Data can also
be exported from Inteum C/S® directly into MS Excel for detailed
manipulation and graphical representation.

Patent Prosecution
Pro-active management of the highly technical and complex patent prosecution
process is one of a technology transfer office’s most difficult
management challenges. Inteum C/S® patent prosecution module's primary
functions include:
tracking the
progress of each patent application through the patent office with the related
fees and response due dates;
automatic
calculation and tracking of the filing dates in different jurisdictions;
on-line
tracking of the current patent activities and of all communications and
correspondence with relevant parties;
efficient
on-line access to the prosecution history, permitting the manager or
administrator to see the process in a continual stream.
Inteum C/S® users can create patent management activities and control the
process whether used for in-house docketing or in conjunction with outside
counsel.

Federal Invention Reporting
Inteum C/S® provides an invention-reporting module, which was designed in
close association with United States NIH and other Federal granting agencies.
This module functions to:
Automatically
calculate and track due dates of required reports required by the US Bayh-Dole
Act.
Generate and
automatically record the reports as required by the federal and other granting
institutions.
Generate the
requisite letters, license and reports to the respective agencies.
We keep apprised of the developing on-line Internet invention reporting
practices.

Reporting
Inteum C/S® provides extensive ad-hoc search and query capabilities.
Inteum C/S® ships with a comprehensive library of over 135 pre-designed
reports.
Additional reports can developed in Crystal Reports.
Inteum also provides a custom Report Development service for customers who
demand more complex reporting but don’t have the necessary resources to

System Requirements
Developed in Microsoft Visual C++, Inteum C/S® is an Enterprise level
product suitable for a single user or a complete department.
Inteum C/S® is a Client Server ODBC compliant Database application
supporting: Microsoft SQL, Oracle or MySQL. In all cases the client
requirements are the same.
The recommended installation is for a single copy of the Inteum C/S®
application to reside on a file server accessible by all users. No application
is installed on the client PC.
Inteum C/S® includes an automatic web based update facility that ensures
the latest version of the application is available to all Software Maintenance
Plan subscribers.
